With a deep-rooted passion for design, Kimberly is the in-house Decor Studio Manager for OPUS Homes. Having graduated with Honours in Interior Design, she diligently mastered her trade through twelve years of accumulated experience in the design and home building industry. During that time Kimberly developed and operated an in-house decor and customer service program for a highly-regarded home builder. A creative jack of all trades, she has been involved in multiple operational functions within the home building process. Christmas 2017-Style!<\/h2>\n
It’s almost the end of November, and it seems like just yesterday we were rushing around getting ready for Thanksgiving. \u00a0Christmas is now only a few weeks away, and we’ve found some exciting decor trends for the 2017 holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n Decor trends are often influenced a little by the fashion industry and this year has been no exception. Though usually associated with holidays, the colour white sees increased exposure this year. However, as opposed to decorating with different variations of the tone, this year sees a very crisp white, combined with textures, adding an extra touch of elegance and complexity, to your tree.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Creative Christmas \u201ctrees\u201d. We don\u2019t really understand this one, but for some of us, the usual tree just won\u2019t do. Along this same idea, is the trend for Christmas neutrals. Instead of bright reds and golds and greens, we\u2019re seeing paler shades of cream and grey. \u00a0While this isn\u2019t exactly festive, these decorations have an understated elegance and simplicity.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/h4>\n

Organics may not be that odd a trend around the Christmas season, with wreaths, poinsettias and trees dominating our homes. \u00a0What is interesting is the path this has taken in 2017. \u00a0From earthy tones, gold balls, crystals and even beachy themes, all natural seems to be the big thing this season. The best part of this trend, however, is that it is tailor-made for those who enjoy making their decorations from scratch. It’s also a fun activity for the kids while home over the holiday break.<\/span><\/p>\nRetro Christmas<\/h4>\n

If the rustic, organic look isn’t your style, then get ready to relive childhood memories. \u00a0Vintage decorations are also seeing a spike in popularity this year. \u00a0Aluminum & ceramic trees adorned with brightly coloured glass ornaments are making a comeback, coupled with retro designed wrapping paper, makes for a very nostalgic Christmas morning. \u00a0Garland is also a huge staple of the holidays, so pop a bag in the microwave, and in 2-3 minutes you’ll have the main ingredient for do-it-yourself popcorn garland. \u00a0Top it all off by accentuating your home with pixie elves, snow-globes and mistletoe for that added touch.<\/span><\/p>\n
