Since so many of us spend so much time in the kitchen, it’s a real joy to have appliances that are innovative, reliable and functional.  One of the benefits of a new home is the opportunity to completely customize your kitchen cabinetry to accommodate your appliance preferences.  The look of a panelled refrigerator or slide-in range is so hot right now, it also makes sense for those who expect to be re-selling their home in a few years.

According to Eli Yerushalmi, Senior Account Manager, Commercial Sales, at The Brick, there are many great best-sellers in all price ranges.  “The Frigidaire Gallery is popular as ever, with some homeowners seeking convection ovens and matching over-the-range hoods or microwave / vent combos – and the colour preference remains stainless steel.”

For those seeking a little more luxury, here are a few appliance ideas…

• Pay attention to the depth of your fridge.  Look for counter-depth options for a nice clean horizontal  line, where your fridge is flush with the cabinets.

• The industrial look is in. Lots of glass, stainless steel.  Try pairing a fridge / freezer side-by-side, with a vent/ trim kit that looks like it belongs in an upscale restaurant kitchen.

• Love wine? Integrate a wine fridge into your kitchen and enjoy the perfect glass any time.

• Check out steam ovens, the latest and greatest in healthy cooking.

• For families with children, seniors or with special needs, try an induction cook top, that cools as soon as you remove the pot.

At OPUS Homes, we’ll work with you carefully to make sure that your appliances fit perfectly into your brand-new kitchen, and make some helpful suggestions along the way.
