Naturally Hardwood

It’s true, what they say.  “Everything old is new again.”  This is certainly true with flooring.  We spoke with Domenic Condo, at Weston Flooring, who gave us some insights into what buyers are looking for these days, and people still love the timeless look of hardwood.

“Wider planks in different textures are really popular now,” says Condo.  While dark colours dominated in previous years, we’re seeing lighter colours in 5” widths all the way up to 10” widths with wire-brush or hand-scraped finishes.

People are also looking for cool patterns, making the floor a focal point in a home.  Instead of the classic staggered effect, try herringbone or chevron patterns.

According to Condo, “the most important thing to consider, regardless of the hardwood you select, is to control the environment in your home.”  You’ve invested in a beautiful natural floor.  Protect it by monitoring heat and humidity to prevent potential warping or cupping.  When you move in, OPUS Homes will be sure to help you determine the optimal humidity levels in your home to protect your investment.
