Families Helping Families is making a difference with teens!

At OPUS Homes we are dedicated to giving back to our communities and helping those in need. It is for this reason that we created our Families Helping Families (FHF) charitable giving program. Through this program OPUS Homes makes a donation from a selection of deserving charities, on behalf our clients.

The newest recipient of the FHF program is 360°kids. 360°kids is an organization that has been helping families, children and youth in York Region for 28 years with a number of innovative support services and their “Every Kid Matters Campaign”.

Their mission is to surround kids in crisis with care, taking a 360° approach to care with a wide range of programs and services. They operate two youth drop-in centres (one in Richmond Hill and one in Vaughan) for youth 13 – 26, and provide housing for 51 at-risk and homeless youth aged 16-26 through various programs across York Region. In addition to this, they offer counselling, outreach services, positive mentorship and employment opportunities.

Issues like homelessness don’t tend to be top of mind in a seemingly affluent area such as York Region but it does exist and it is a problem that organizations like 360°kids are addressing. The work of this organization is incredibly important and has made them a regional leader in providing services for at-risk youth. It is for this reason that 360°kids has been selected as a recipient of FHF funding for the residents of our Richlands community in Richmond Hill.

“We were surprised to learn of the need that exists for an organization like this in York Region and extremely touched by the work they do. As a company that builds family homes we felt a connection to an organization that is helping to rebuild lives. The commitment that 360°kids has to putting community first very much mirrors our own family commitment to building communities” ~ Andrea DeGasperis-Ronco, President, OPUS Homes.
“It’s only with the support of the community and business leaders like OPUS Homes, who take an interest in helping others, that 360°kids is able to provide continued support to at-risk and homeless youth.” ~ Lesley Sims, Director of Resource Development, 360°kids.
