Celebrating March Break in OPUS Homes’ Communities

The kids are getting excited, as March Break is right around the corner, bringing a taste of freedom from school.  Savvy parents are already planning activities to keep the little ones occupied!

If you haven’t yet decided what your family will be doing, and a sunny beach isn’t in the forecast, perhaps some of these ideas will provide some much-needed family fun:

Brampton:

The City of Brampton Offers some great options for March Break activities, all at an affordable price for families: treat the kids to cooking, crafts, sports, day trips and dancing.  There are programs offered to suit kids from age 3 up to 13 and extended hours are offered for working parents.  Take a look at the list of options and register soon.

Also in Brampton, it looks like the weather is going to cooperate! Mount Chinguacousy will be open for skiers and snowboarders as well as for tobogganing, Monday to Friday 9:30 am to 8 pm during March Break.

Aurora:

The Aurora Cultural Centre has a great drop in March Break activity for kids and their families.  Be sure to add the Centre to your plans on March 17 from 1pm – 4pm as there will be activities planned in celebration of the Centre’s 5th Anniversary.  The activities will be origami and making a personalized pin.  The event requires no pre-registration. Click here for details.

If your kids have some extra energy to burn off, since it’s too cold to play outside, take them to the Kids Super Gym! They have organized day camps for March Break, and we’re pretty sure they’ll come home tired out!

Finally, through the Town of Aurora, your kids can make use of their time off from school.  In addition to the traditional day camp consisting of sports, games and creative play, they are offering CPR Training, Babysitting and Home Alone courses.

Whitby:

Budding artists in Whitby can check out the Station Gallery for a week of hands on art!  The camp is open to both Members and Non-Members, and activities include: drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture.

As well, Clarington Museums is offering a March Break program with a bit of culture! Activities include: Decode Secret Messages, Build a Submarine, Make a War-Time Meal, and more.

Check out this link for a more complete list of March Break activities in and around Whitby.

A few other Highlights in and around the GTA:

• The Bata Shoe Museum is showcasing Footprints on the World’s Stage, showcasing shoe collections from some of the world’s most notable people  (Including a pair of Justin Bieber’s Shoes!) during March Break

• There are 6 indoor tropical pavilions at The Metro Toronto Zoo.  A great place to escape the cold!

• Two words: Laser Quest!

• Two more words: Maple Syrup! Kortright’s Maple Syrup Fest is on throughout March.
