With a deep-rooted passion for design, Kimberly is the in-house Decor Studio Manager for OPUS Homes. Having graduated with Honours in Interior Design, she diligently mastered her trade through twelve years of accumulated experience in the design and home building industry. During that time Kimberly developed and operated an in-house decor and customer service program for a highly-regarded home builder. A creative jack of all trades, she has been involved in multiple operational functions within the home building process. This fresh-faced and highly qualified team member oversees the décor function with a finely tuned knowledge of the entire operational process which allows her to guide clients through the maze of construction with ease.
Trendspotters have been promising for a few years now that Smart Homes were on the horizon, and we’re finally seeing this become the reality. Initially, these upgrades may have seemed too complicated for the average person, but we are becoming more and more comfortable interacting with the world around us via our smart phones.
This is proving true in our Decor Studio, with Clients that are dazzled by the control that smart home technology offers.
Here are a few of our favourite Smart Home Upgrades:
Appliances – At the beginning of 2017, Samsung unveiled a line of appliances that sync with your smart phone. Did you forget to run the dishwasher? During the day, you can set it to ‘on’ and have sparkling dishes when you get home. Same with the laundry. You can control the functions and receive notifications when it’s done. With integrated screens and cameras, you can even grab a snack without missing a moment of the movie, or view the contents of your refrigerator from the grocery store…you’ll never forget to pick up milk again!
Heating / Cooling – Control the heating and cooling of your home from anywhere and check in on your home’s systems while you’re on vacation. Your ‘smart’ thermostat can also learn your preferences, your family routines and ensure your home is always at the ideal temperature.
Window Coverings and Lighting – Your home’s window coverings can be opened or closed remotely, and this is ideal for both temperature control, privacy and safety. Control your lighting so that you don’t come home to a dark house, ever.
Faucets – Smart Home technology can even make your morning shower better. Moen has recently released ‘U’, which elevates your shower experience with settings that ensure it’s perfect every time.
Security – Lock and unlock your home remotely to allow others to gain temporary access to your home, no need for a spare key. You can also monitor your home for peace of mind while travelling.
Music and Entertainment – Smart TV’s and audio systems with unlimited possibilities for whole-home sound and entertainment.
Turn it all off with a ‘Goodnight’. One of our favourite features of smart home technology is the ability to say ‘goodnight’ to shut off your tv and lighting.
