Show Highlights

We were trendspotting this month at one of our favourite ‘inspiration destinations’ at the Interior Design Show.  This is where we set eyes on the trends and products that we’ll be seeing down the road.

This year, we expected lots of modern, contemporary design, and we got it, and over the coming months we’ll be sharing what’s new in high design, but also what’s new in our very own Decor Studio.

One thing is clear, you can expect to see more of the natural materials people crave, rich hardwood, luxurious granite and marble, eco-friendly materials, and plenty of exciting textures that add visual interest to the home.

From time to time, we’ll also be sharing new designs that will get a reaction. Let us know what you think @opushomes!

Lighting Trends

3D printed lighting in super-saturated tones that are dazzling. These lights come in striking colours, but are surprisingly matte in finish. What makes these shimmer is the actual pattern.

Colours in Faucets & Fixtures

Unique colours and finishes in fixtures and faucets. How can you make a statement in an ensuite or powder room? One way is to experiment with brushed gold, matte black, and even punches of red and teal finish to an ordinary bathroom.

Geometric Designs

Geometric is big in 2018.  Here’s an easy way to incorporate this look into your home, starting with your coffee table. Clear clutter and group books, fresh cut flowers and other objects together for a completely fresh look in the living room.

Hardware Trends

Get creative with pulls. This is such an easy way to make your kitchen feel brand new. Adding fun pulls is an easy thing, and you can indulge in something you might not care for later, because changing it is easy (and inexpensive, too!)

Rustic, Yet Polished

Just for fun. These pastel painted ‘log’ stools are very cool because they are a mashup of rustic and pretty.  The high gloss finish on them really makes the colours pop in an interesting way.

Colour of the Year

And finally! A colour we love. Red! Benjamin Moore’s colour of the year for 2018 is a spicy red.  You can be on trend with a sofa adorned with cushions or a blanket in this lively colour.
