Weekend adventure in the great Town of Whitby

Whitby’s prime location, right in the centre of Ontario’s Durham region, means that there is plenty to do and see in this great small town. Marinas, expansive green spaces, conservation areas and all the Durham markets are just waiting to be discovered.

Explore the Nature
The weekend is for discovering Whitby’s amazing natural reserves. Explore The Lynde Shores Conservation Area and completely surround yourself in wildlife. The 272-hectre area features a number of looping trails and boardwalks while providing a natural habitat for nesting birds, particularly migrating waterfowl and shorebirds.

Explore the Waterfront
Looking for a waterfront excursion? The beautiful Port Whitby Marina is a 420-slip, year-round facility sitting on a natural harbour on Lake Ontario. Take some time this weekend and walk along the Waterfront Trail, stop at an ice cream shop along the way or relax and have a picnic at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park.

Explore the Markets
Running until the end of October, The Whitby Farmer’s Market is a great family weekend activity. Explore the market and nibble on fresh fruits or vegetables; prepared foods such as fresh baked treats, juices and salads are also available. If arts and crafts is your thing, visit the artisans’ booths and buy some truly unique items.

Weekends are for exploring and what better way to discover this charming town than by spending them in the great outdoors.
