The kitchen is certainly the hottest room in the house, particularly when it comes to design trends and here’s what’s cooking when it comes to the hearth.

Worktop Upgrades
There has been a steady rise in quality of material when it comes to counter tops. Materials such as quartz that were once considered luxury surfaces are replacing laminate countertops. With the focus shifting to quality and value of materials, the option of natural stone for work surfaces has increased, creating an opulent aesthetic.

Industrial Design
Exposed brick, pipes and rustic metals are what’s hot when it comes to the industrial look, currently trending in kitchen design. The raw beauty of materials such as wood and concrete seamlessly combine with innovative finishes to create a fashionably utilitarian look, further enhanced by handle-less cabinetry in gloss finishes and neutral tones.

Storage Solutions and Clutter Free Surfaces
Creating a kitchen environment that is modern and sleek means clutter free worktops and creative storage. Cabinets, pantries and drawers offer various compartments and shelves for everything from seasonings to small appliances keeping your surfaces and open space, free from clutter.

50 Shades of Grey…and Black and White
Whether it’s a piece of decor that features prominently in your home or soft-spoken in finishing touches, there’s been an increase in the popularity of achromatic tones in the kitchen. These accent finishes are found in everything from cabinets and worktops to appliances and accessories.

Copper Accenting
Copper accenting is what’s hot particularly when juxtaposed against monochromatic and earth tones that are currently trending. These neutral tones, complemented by copper coloured handles, accessories and appliances in the kitchen.

Smart Kitchens
Technology is advancing in every room in the house including the kitchen and much like we have smart phones, we are also developing smart kitchens. Appliances are integrating with technologies like Bluetooth speakers and the ability to be controlled remotely via apps. Kitchen spaces are even seeing their designs incorporate features such as pop-up sockets for smart phones and tablets.
