Halloween Decorating Ideas!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

It’s almost time for Halloween, the day we get to celebrate with our kids, and the kid in all of us! Make your Halloween one you won’t soon forget, as we share unique decor ideas on how to decorate your OPUS home for Halloween!

You can’t have Halloween without pumpkins. Traditionally, you’d carve a pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern, with a funny face. However, pumpkin carving has become more of an art form, with patterns ranging from easy to “How did you do that?” Click here for a variety of designs from film and tv, as well as more traditional ones. Don’t forget to roast the pumpkin seeds after for a delicious Halloween treat! Don’t want to deal with a messy carve? Decorate your pumpkin instead! Pinterest is a great source of inspiration when looking for ideas on how to glam up your gourd.

Ghoulish Ghosties:
Ghosts are one of the easiest decorations to make, but the effect they create can send shivers down your spine! White fabric or cheesecloth, black felt, and foam balls are pretty much all you’ll need to conjure up a silent spectre. If you’re ambitious, you can create a floating, after-life sized apparition, by following these instructions.

Creepy Crawlies, Cobwebs & Candy:
Are you more of the Halloween party type, we’ve got some great ideas for you as well. Combine felt, pom-pom, and pipe cleaner to create some creepy-crawly napkin rings. In the living room, use grey wool and some pins to create a spiderweb look on your pillows. Cut out little spider silhouettes from construction paper and felt to decorate the web. Add a little extra touch with these two simple words: Candy Topiary.

Wicked Wreaths:
Going all out with decorations isn’t for everyone, but wreaths make for a great DIY project, and an excellent way to show your spirit. A felt-leaf wreath is a classic look, that works all autumn long. Use a variety of colours for the leaves and have it ready for the everyday. Add decorative touches and accessories for that Halloween look. Looking for something a bit more fashion forward? Wrap a foam wreath in chevron patterned fabric to add a splash of colour that will catch everyone’s eye. Speaking of, go for maximum creepiness by using ping-pong balls, for an eye-catching design, that will watch over your neighbourhood.

Halloween is one of the best times of year to stretch your creative muscle, so have fun with your decorations. OPUS Homes reminds you to take extra care this year and remember to watch out for trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. Safe and happy haunting to all!
