Andrea DeGasperis-Ronco and Michael Ronco, the principals of OPUS Homes, are shining examples of a dynamic power couple, growing both a successful business, and a loving family. Their shared values and similar upbringings have helped them become the epitome of a true partnership, both at work and in life as well.
Both Andrea and Michael come from construction families. Andrea is third generation construction lineage, who leveraged her experience and passion for the industry to launch OPUS Homes in 2010. Michael entered into the family business at the age of 13 and then went on to study law at Osgoode, with a focus on real estate.
They have been together for 17 years and are coming up on their 10th wedding anniversary; during which time they have built a family (they have 3 beautiful children) in addition to a business that is celebrating a five year milestone.
Michael acts as legal counsel, overseeing land acquisition, land development and construction, while Andrea looks after the big picture, managing the brand along with sales and décor, and above all ensures the company is executing the corporate philosophy and corporate vision to homeowners. With each of them holding a different role they have effectively melded their two jobs and are able to consult with one another on their own areas of the business.
It is in working together that they are actually able to maintain a work-life balance. The comfort and rapport developed over their time together allows them to understand where the other is coming from and to know how to assist one another.
“Working with Michael at the office has been a great help. Having a partner who knows you so well, in how you think, how you react, and how you see the world, really makes a huge difference and is a big help in managing and growing our business,” according to Andrea.
Taking on the approach of divide and conquer, they each handle different areas of the business and home life to work towards a common goal. It is also a balance in character that contributes to their success with Michael being the logical, business oriented personality while Andrea is the heart of OPUS homes, tackling everything from ensuring that OPUS’ mission to provide the highest level of client care is continuously carried out, to managing OPUS’ charitable initiatives and everything in between.
“Being able to work with Andrea is like being able to work with your best friend. She brings the same level of caring she has for our family to the business and our clients. It’s that shared vision we have that helps us work so well together at the office and at home,” says Michael.
Theirs is a partnership that embodies the essence of a true partnership with each bringing their own talents to the table, being able to learn from each other, support each other and build a brighter future together in business and life.
